Sampo Group´s Policy of Sustainable Development
By producing financial services, Sampo Group, for its part, takes care of well-being and safety in society. Sampo is aware of its corporate responsibility and commits to developing its operations to further the economic, social and environmental sustainability.
As a listed company, Sampo plc has a responsibility to act in the best interests of its shareholders, in compliance with legislation, and in accordance with sound business practices. The scope of corporate responsibility extends beyond shareholders and customers however. Sampo seeks ways of doing business that take the interests of all stakeholders into account without compromising those of the owners. The staff, service providers, suppliers and many others are important interest groups in this work.
1. Sampo follows ethically high business practices. Sampo adheres to laws and government regulations in the countries it operates in and, whenever possible, exceeds the requirements stipulated therein. Sampo takes the local conditions into account wherever it operates.
2. Good customer service is of the utmost importance to Sampo. The entire staff, whose expertise, motivation and well-being is looked after by Sampo, are in a key position in this work. Fair and equal treatment of the staff is taken seriously by the management and co-workers alike. Sampo also aims to provide products and services that promote sustainability.
3. Sampo increases environmental efficiency in its operations and reduces the environmental effects connected to the production of its services.
4. Sampo operates cost-efficiently and competitively, and has efficient risk-management. Good financial performance and a solid financial position is our duty towards the owners, staff, customers and other interest groups, and a prerequisite for our ability to take care of our corporate responsibility in the long run.
This policy has been updated on 20 January, 2006, and is to be implemented within the entire Group.
