Sampo's ownership in Nordea exceeded 20 per cent

Sampo plc (business code 01422113-3) has increased its stake in Nordea Bank AB (publ) to 808,580,286 shares which is equivalent to 20.03 per cent of the shares in Nordea. Nordea will be accounted by equity method in Sampo Group's accounts starting 31 December 2009.

Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority granted on 20 October 2009 Sampo plc a license to increase its holding in Nordea above 20 per cent.
