Internal Restructuring in Sampo Banking

Sampo Bank plc and Mandatum Bank plc, fully-owned subsidiaries of Sampo plc, have today submitted the Ministry of Finance with an application for an authorisation to merge. According to the application, the aim is that the merger of Mandatum Bank Plc to Sampo Bank plc will be effected on 31 December 2001.

The merger arrangement is an internal arrangement of the Group and a purely technical one. The arrangement does not require any measures from the customers and does not affect deposit, credit or other agreements. The Mandatum Bank branches will operate under the name of Mandatum Private Bank as of the beginning of 2002.
