Sampo’s Christmas donation to UNICEF
Sampo plc has donated EUR 50,000 to UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund. The donation will be directed to the global fund for children, which supports children where help is needed the most.
- This year, we want to support projects that promote the well-being of children specifically, as we are concerned about the growing general sense of insecurity and the impact of global crises, such as the war in Ukraine, on children, says Johanna Tynkkynen, Sampo’s Head of Sustainability.
- The support of companies is of great importance to our work in building a more stable and better world for children. Right now, 40 million children have had to flee their homes due to war, conflicts, or climate extremes. With the help of donations, UNICEF can bring health, safety, and schooling opportunities to children, says Johanna Talvela, Director, Corporate Collaboration, UNICEF Finland.
UNICEF is the world's largest children's organisation. Its work is based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The organisation works to improve the rights of children in the long term and helps children caught up in disasters and wars in nearly 300 crises around the world every year.
