Sampo Group to sell Sampo Industrial Insurance N.V. to Hampden Plc
Stock Exchange Release - 4 Jul 2001 at 10:00 AM
The company's name will be changed to Hampden Insurance N.V. and will continue to be a provider of industrial risks insurance products. The present management and operational structure will remain in place for the time being.
The Hampden Group has been involved in insurance management since 1979 and is a leading provider of administration services to insurance and reinsurance clients in Europe, the United States and the Far East. The Group includes one of the largest agencies at Lloyd's and provides services to 20% of Lloyd's syndicates and over half of all Lloyd's Corporate Capital Members. The ability to utilise the Lloyd's market not only maintains the ability of the new company to provide secure insurance products to its clients but the added advantage of the Lloyd's world-wide license provides considerable scope for future development.
According to the Sampo Group's strategy, Sampo focuses on long-term savings in the Nordic countries and within the Baltic Rim. Sampo has earlier announced its restructuring plans which include a merger with the Norwegian insurance group Storebrand ASA and the transfer of its P&C operations to the pan-Nordic company If.
