Sampo Group has a sustainability programme, which drives group-level sustainability work. The programme consists of five strategic sustainability themes: Business management and practices, Corporate culture, Investment management and operations, Products and services, and Communities. Under each theme the most material sustainability topics have been identified using materiality analysis. In addition, the programme was prepared to highlight the business rationale behind the sustainability work.
Representatives from all Sampo Group companies have been involved in drafting the programme and analysing the material topics. In addition, regulatory requirements regarding current and future sustainability reporting, industry best practices, relevant reporting frameworks (e.g., the GRI Standards, the TCFD), and the views of various ESG rating agencies have been taken into account. Sustainability programme also links the Group’s sustainability work to UN Sustainable Development Goals, most notably the goals 3, 5, 8, 12, and 13.
The sustainability programme is intended as a common tool and guideline for the Group companies’ sustainability organisations. The programme evolves, as common projects are completed and targets reached, or new priorities emerge. Every three years the programme undergoes a bigger update.
